Welcome to our completely new web pages that are dedicated entirely to Fantic twin-shock trials machines. On this site you will find detailed information related to worthwhile upgrades and improvements, on the very best twin-shock trials machines ever produced. We have also included some advice covering common problem areas, as well as outline details relating to the modern day twin-shock frame kit we hope to produce, that will be based around Fantic running gear.

Currently there is an awful lot of interest in older machinery, which has resulted in many “restored” bikes coming onto the market. In some cases the restoration work will have been carried out very poorly, and machines will need to be totally rebuilt properly before they are used seriously. We will outline here how Classictrial go about turning a neglected forward kick 200 Professional into a highly competitive and fun to ride twin-shock, and can provide most of what’s required to help anyone build a Fantic along similar lines.

As well as the required upgrades to your chassis and ancillary parts we can also help with professionally rebuilt power units, which are effectively as new and simply need to be filled with oil and fitted to your frame. The stock Fantic motors are so good in completely standard form, that there is no need for costly and unreliable big bore kits, or the electronic ignition conversions that are often fitted to the older less competitive twin-shock bikes.

In realistic terms a properly built modified Fantic is something that with routine maintenance will provide many years of enjoyable service and is likely to increase in value, rather than rapidly decreasing as is the case with modern machinery! Reliability of these bikes is extremely good, and other than changing the gear box oil and servicing the air filter, owners are not likely to need to contend with the major component failures, that unfortunately seem so common on modern machines nowadays!

However while a properly modified Fantic is preferable for anyone riding championship level twin-shock events or competing against modern machines, a well prepared standard bike is perfectly acceptable for less competitive riders, or those who are riding easier trials. Steering and handling on the rear kick 200 in stock form is very good indeed, and these are the best choice for anyone wanting to compete on a standard machine. Steering geometry on the 240 and 300 is not as suitable for modern conditions as that of the rear kick 200, and ideally the 240 and 300 need to be modified for use in serious competition.

Something that is worth bearing in mind though is the fact that while a  properly modified or well built stock Fantic is going to be very good indeed, is that bikes which have not been rebuilt and set up properly, are simply not going to be reflective of just how well a good bike is able to work. In time we hope to be able to arrange for seriously interested prospective customers to be able to try, 156,212,220, and 249cc bikes, all of which have been properly prepared by ourselves.

This site has been designed to be very easy to use, with pages covering each specific area of the bikes, with full details of suggested modifications, and outline information related to the effects of these changes. However it does need to be born in mind that a stock Fantic is about the best twin-shock trials machine out there, and is perfectly suited for use in easier events, or by less serious riders in entirely standard form with no modifications at all.

Finally if you have problems with your Fantic then you might well find that this is fully covered, on the page we have put together to outline the relatively small number of issues affecting these bikes. We are also pleased to advise on any prospective purchase, and this is something that may well mean buyers interested in a good Fantic, are able to avoid a “restored” machine, and the cost and aggravation related to getting it into rideable condition!
